Association
Dementia Association of Helsinki serves as a support organization for people living with memory disorders and their loved ones. The association was founded in 1986 and is Finland’s first memory association. Its history is also part of the broader work done by civil society organizations to support people affected by memory disorders in Finland.
The association’s core activities are defined in its bylaws, according to which it:
Works to prevent and reduce memory disorders and participates in the development of research and care.
Provides information about memory disorders to people living with them and their families.
Develops and organizes care and rehabilitation services for people living with memory disorders. As one of our clients said: “This feels like a second home.”
Guides people with memory disorders and their loved ones in matters related to social and general advocacy.
Carries out information and training activities.
Is guided in its work by humanity, caring, partnership, and reliability.
Become a member of the Association
Membership in the Association gives you the opportunity to influence the association’s activities and to meet other people with memory disorders and their loved ones who are in similar life situations.
As a member, you receive the association’s Synapsi magazine twice a year, as well as the nationwide Muisti magazine from the Finnish Memory Association twice a year. Members can participate in the association’s annual meeting and in various events and activities organized by the association. Membership also provides discounts on some courses and services.
In addition, the association organizes events open to everyone. These can be inquired about at the office or followed via the events calendar.

Donations
You can support the association’s work for people with memory disorders and their loved ones through donations, as well as by commemorating special occasions or expressing condolences.

Please use the account FI 70 8000 1301 4057 27 if, for example:
You wish friends to direct money intended as birthday gifts toward memory work instead of purchasing items.

You kindly ask donors to write the name of the birthday celebrant or deceased loved one in the message field.
You want to be informed about donations made in your or a loved one’s name, please send us an email with your contact information and details of any upcoming commemorations, and we will provide you with a summary of donations.
